What do I need for gearbox replacement?

Further to my earlier thread about noisy transmission on my N-reg 1.0 micra, I've decided I'm going to go for a gearbox replacement. Hoping to lay my hand on a gearbox over the next week or so, and then find a free weekend to have a go at the replacement.

While the gearbox is out, I may as well stick a new clutch in too - looks like I can pick one up for about £30 on ebay - e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-MICRA-...ryZ10402QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I've read a few threads on here about gearbox replacement, and have identified that I should pick up a clutch alignment tool (again from ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-UNIVERS...ryZ30917QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem )

What else will I need? Are there any gaskets / oil seals that will need replacing? Haynes suggests replacing the driveshaft oil seals.

Obviously I'll need to drain the gearbox oil and refill with new stuff. Do I need to also drain the engine oil?

Although I have a reasonable selection of tools, I don't really have anything specialist - anything I should look out for?

Many thanks,

Simon

Hi Simon, I also had the gearbox replaced as 3rd gear was annihilated (Bits of it came out in the oil!) due to a leaking seal. But dont make the same costly mistake I made!
Use only the gearbox from a 1.0 litre prefacelift, as it is different to every other K11 gearbox (driveshafts and clutch are different).
You dont need to drain engine or gearbox oil really, just fill up the new box with fresh oil of the right consistency (Mine is too thick, making it clunky when cold). Driveshafts should pop out if you can break the circlip.
Allow about 2-3 days to do it if its your first time on your own, theres lots of bolts holding the ###### on! And also just in case anything goes wrong you dont want to be rushig it and mess it up.
Good luck!
