Wembley Stadium 24 hour Karting Event

Message away! I think the team are still looking for drivers. If you're up for a race and have that sort of cash, then let me know!! Being good is also an advantage lol

£3500 for one day...a bit extreme?

+ VAT

but that's per team! So £350 each for about 2 and a half hours + practice driving around wembley stadium! That's a once in a lifetime experience I think. Imagine if we win, standing on the podium where Schumacher stood a few days before!

It's about £411 including VAT!! but who cares!! I am so excited about it :D. Will probably be the most amazing/surreal thing I've ever done

Right well i thought i'd bump this as it's not far away! The team is all booked in and paid for. Just sorting out hotel arrangements and stuff. some of us will be going up on the 19th for a practice session. Costs about £200 per hour! but worth every penny i reckon. Extend the whole wembley experience just that little bit longer.

Got my own race suit, lid, gloves, boots etc which i've used at Thruxton, Camberley & Milton Keynes. Various different karts. One of them did around 80, was amazing!!!

I've just found out this event is being televised by motors TV and broadcasted by sky/cable to over 50 countries in January 2009!!! awesome!! :D

If anyone wants to spectate, i'll be getting information on that in the next few days.

Practice session TOMORROW!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Race starts 12:00 Saturday. We get to sleep over in the VIP lounges. I'm well excited!! Did i mention its being recorded and shown on Motors TV next month!! Broadcast in 54 countries :D

Costs £20 to watch if you fancy it!! :p

I'd love to get into carting.

There's an indoor one about 10 minutes away, and Nigel Mansells world of racing about 1/2 hour away.

Looks awesome. I'd be up for watching it live.

It was amazing!! one of the best experiences in my life ever! Some photos/videos on facebook but more to be added, and i'll stick a link on here. More to follow, i'm nackered

We finished 13th out of 21 teams, which we're actually very happy with. We may have even reached the top 10 with a better strategy. Some of the teams were just solid professional drivers, compared to people like me who's only ever raced a max kart twice, and it's the first time we've all raced together. My lap times were only 3 seconds off the fastest lap too! I know I can do better than I did.

The winning team for example had a F1 test driver and an F3 driver! so were talking some of the best drivers were there. There was roumer the world karting champion was there, + bmw touring car drivers and many more. Was totally surreal being in that environment, with such talent and the TV cameras, professional photographers etc!! couldn't get my head round it!!

Very tempted to invest my own kart now and start taking it to a more serious level. Become MSA approved and enter tournaments. It's the only way i'm going to get better!

Loads more available on FB and on my website later

Yeah it's not that cheap, but I absolutely love it! Rotax kart + engine & spares, your looking at around 4 grand or so, and you need transportation, servicing every 20 hours, race fees etc etc!!!

My mate does TKM, advantage with it is he can fit the cart and bits in the back of an escort van just, so makes transport easier as Rotax are quite a bit wider.

Looks like you had an ace time! Looks fantastic!
You did miles better than me in my own (much smaller) event, the closest i got to the top lap was 5s.
I bet some people were suprised at the 'Micra' team doing so well! :)

its not fair. i am actualy a very good gokart racer. i actualy still hold the lap record at my local track for both long and short course and in the rain nobody can touch me. i have trophies and my own racing gear.......but cant afford my own kart, nor the time off work (if i worked..lol_) nor the servicing costs to be competative.

if it was turn up and ride i would love to start it again....

The TV coverage is on this Sunday on Motors TV (Sky/Cable channel). at 9pm. Check it out if you can! There is also a feature in this months Karting magazine (http://www.kartingmagazine.com/)

If anyone is interested in tagging along at some of the events I do, let me know! I've got about 15 races booked up this year already, including a 24 hour at Le Mans in July!

I just hope i'm in the footage! I didn't make the karting feature in the mag. The photographers were never around during the night though, and that's when I did my stints!
