opening up the combustion chambers is an option paul (without any overtight chain issues too)

diy-it paul, bolt an old gasket on and cut inside it

Cut inside it? What tool would you say would do the tidiest job?

a router? that way you can set the depth. does this not do in the flame front and mixing of the fuel?

you don't want to do a 2mm head gasket to drop the compression that is a bit of a bodge, i know a few people who have had these gaskets made and they have blown. the best way is to have custom pistons, but frank's idea looks like a winner too,

how wide/deep would you go on combustion chambers?

i did some test drill holes paul, and there,s loads of thickness.
but if you go too deep you,ll get a poor flow shape and bad turbulance maybe.
if you just make the top and bottom circular, and take out the slow radius on the sides, i think it will drop the c/r to about 8.5:1 imo (it depends on how much boost you want to run really )
