Unknown unplugged cable

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of guidance on a cable in my engine bay that is unplugged.
Looks like it comes out of the coil and has a small silver capacitor on it. The black cable with red stripe, pictured.

That cable must be plugged in at the engine distrubutor, should be a metal connector sticking out on top of the distributor. (It's somewhere between the connection of the ignition wires and the engine it self) I believe that it is an important connection for your ignition system else it wont fire up!

Ideal! That might explain the hesitation she's had in firing up.

No noticeable difference starting the car, but the unknown cable is now plugged in - thanks for the advise!
