Hello I'm new here (please let me know if I'm using the forum wrong), I'm having a little trouble I'm hoping someone could help me with. I tried searching the forum but found no solution. First time doing rear brakes. I got new wheel cylinders and shoes for both sides. However when I came to refit the drums they wouldn't seat properly.
The adjuster was fully unwound, and I tried vertically aligning the shoes.
Diagram of side profile:
My theory is that the leading shoe can't vertically centre because it is fowling against the backplate:
The brake shoes I purchased:

I tried searching for reference photos and came across this post by pollyp with a picture showing a different brake shoe design:

The gap is also present on the old brake shoes in this picture I took before removing them:
Am I missing something here? some advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stamper
