Throttle response help when accelerating it hesitates

I currently have problems with acceleration, It start and idles fine. When I rev, it hesitates. I can only drive a mile or two before it stops me revving past 3000 revs. Any ideas

Thanks frank, you have gave me an idea. I have a cable somewhere I just need to dig it up. Its been about two years.
