View attachment 22914 Paul, low rider, do you know what the bottom seal is for. It was not on my previous setup ?

I'm really impressed by your thoroughness :)

Off top of me head looking the pic
Top - piston dust boot
2nd - piston seal
3rd - handbrake arm shaft to caliper seal
4th - o-ring seal for the threaded handbrake actuator shaft, it keeps the caliper brake fluid away from the handbrake mech grease while allowing the shaft to move during handbrake operation

Ahhh now that's the trick mate. Because to o ring is not in the picture lol. That's on the actuator already!

That's the handbrake arm seal. The suspect seal is the same inner diameter.

the arm seal is the left a d the two right are the suspects from top and bottom.

So I think I deserve one massive medal... Something which would make frank proud...

So I couldn't get the c clip on the bottom of the calliper. So I thought "hey chris, you need to apply pressure around on all edges hey what's that..
uploadfromtaptalk1368994351180.jpg
oh look the spring holder fits in the inside. Oh look its smaller than the piston ...it will fit in... Remove that bitch
uploadfromtaptalk1368994415463.jpg
slide hammer says frank... Resourcefull side of me says.. Drill a whole through it and twist with bashed through screw driver... Apply heat.
uploadfromtaptalk1368994482275.jpg
oh look it fits... Get the spring and holder down in there as low as possible. Socket and extension apply hammer with sharp blow. Limiting damage by getting it as low as possible...

no probs.
well you got all the bits to reassemble the rear caliper so proceed.

how to reassemble? dead easy, reverse of disassembly :p

- ensure the insides and bits are spotless
- fill the handbrake mech bore with silicone grease
- fit the handbrake arm seal onto the groove of the caliper body
- smear some silicone grease on the handbrake arm shaft and insert into the caliper. carefully remove excess grease that's leaked into the piston bore area, don't want brake fluid & grease mixing.
- insert the little rod/capsule like bit into the handbrake lever shaft hole
- oil n fit the o-ring onto the handbrake actuator shaft
- fit the other washers n spring n spring cage onto the actuator shaft and slip the assembly down the bore. jiggle the handbrake lever while pushing the shaft down to fully seat that short rod/capsule. make sure the notch on the thick washer faces down and locked into the hole of the bottom of the piston bore. (the notch keeps the washer static which stops the shaft from spinning)
- install the c-clip, don't scratch the bore wall. I fit it as far as down I can and then instead of trying to compress the return spring to fit the clip in the groove, I just insert & tap a flat head driver all around the clip till it clicks into the grooves. (ah that spark plug tube is a better option)
- fit the oiled piston seal
- oil the piston and slip the dust seal onto the tip of the piston
- insert the lip of the dust seal into the groove of the caliper above the piston seal
- push and turn the piston all the way into the bore

Ta mate. Yeah I just did it in reverse, your version was a lot cleaner than I remember . Just to point it out that spark plug tunnel was from a random shagged head lol.

Yeah, I meant that shirt, you deserve it.
You're probably not even that old, I just think anyone over 25 should have grey hair and a walking stick ;)
