A question, any downfalls in cutting the springs to lower the car slightly.. cutting a 35mm lowering spring that is and using new shox?

yes. the spring rate will stay the same so the car could possibly bottom out and even worse the suspension could extent beyond the maximum length of the springs and they could pop out..
when lowering springs are so cheap its not worth risking your life for...
(however the rear lowering springs on a micra like eibach ones need to be cut down by a couple of coils just to work correctly and are virtualy captured by the design of the rear suspension anyway) never do the fronts
