Spraying chrome grill

Hi Guys

My facelift micra has the chrome grill thats built into the bonnet. Thinking of spraying it black?
Any ideas or help on how to do it?

hi Olly i have just done the same today i just scuffed it up with emery paper and primed it and then put the black on, i will try to get some pics up tomorrow

if you dont have emery paper you can use the rough side of a washing up sponge... dont forget to primer it properly and let it cure thoroughly! otherwise the paint wont last.

What primer would you guys suggest?

to start i used a plastic primer(clear) as their was some bare plastic showing as im meshing them but decided i would get a better finish with some metal primer(grey) i had. my topcoat is a matt black finish and it looks pretty good for my first try using spray cans.

I think halfords White plastic primer would be fine for the job can't see the harm in using grey primer either as long as you leave it to dry for 24 hours before you continue painting it's all in the prep work so just take your time and it will be awesome! Good luck (Y)
