My wife's 1995 Micra K11 (1.0 litre) speedometer has started to stick at around 20 mph and will sometimes not drop after coming to a halt. In addition the speed readings do not appear to be accurate particulalarly at lower speeds. I am fairly sure it is a cable drive as opposed to an electronic one. I am quite happy to attempt a repair but need to know where to start. Is it just a question of lubricating/replacing the cable ? Can the the speedo head be lubricated ? The needle does drop if the instrument cluster is given a sharp tap. Any help greatly appreciated.
