road rally car suspension choices

Evening all
after just doing the gremlin road rally (as a nav, 28th OA and 7th in class in a Suzuki baleno) I'm almost getting there with my 1.4 road rally car.
For front suspension ive tried corsa b coilovers but found them too low even on the highest setting, so what have you guys used or experienced?
also, are Bilstein B4 shocks any good?
Any help would be appreciated

did you use corsa topmounts ? they are about 2" higher than using k11 ones

ah, no I didn't, I was wondering why they were really low on the highest setting

I'm in the same predicament I've got some blown up b4s on my road rally car! It's done about 3 very rough events(the Preston Road rally) and there shot so wouldn't say they're ideal! I'm toying with some spax. Adjustable damping only ones? Not really sure though either as they're about 500 quid just for dampers

were the b4's firm? I was thinking of them for the rear of the car

Not massively no! Firmer than standard! To be fair it's only the fronts that have blown. Rears still going

Use Avo coil overs done 30+ road rally's never had a problem with them well worth the investment.

I take it back I just stripped my bilstein off car and there sound as a pound it was my bottom arm that was broken! Tough little cookies

Has anyone ever used Shocks from a different car? Looking at Mk3 Golf rears they may be a decent upgrade?

I haven’t tried this but apparently mk2 escort rear shocks fit and also evo 4 rear springs fit the front . I’m trying to figure out what to do with my suspension at the moment

saab 93 rear shocks do the business on the rear, loads more damping and twice as much oil capacity over standard and same length as the much used corsa b shock
i use mk2 focus rear springs cut down to 5 coils on the rear
focus hatch springs 11.7mm wire thickness = 220lb
focus estate springs 13.5mm wire = 400lb

You need to specify OG9-3 (1998-2002) or 9-3SS (2003-2011) totally different chassis and the dampers are NOT the same.......If it is the earlier one then the Saab NG900 from 1994-1997 uses the same chassis and rear dampers.......

Neo Brothers (Saab Specialists) in Waltham Cross have a very good range of them, including Bilsteins B4, B6 & B8 at very reasonable prices......

We've decided on B4 Micra front shocks with Evo 4 rear springs.

For the rear we're now looking at Saab 93 shocks - BTW they are on ebay for £73.64 on gsfcarparts page inc delivery. Will Focus springs not make the rear too hard? We do road rallies, autosolo, targa and gravel PCA.

i circuit race so stiffer rear is preferred to help the car rotate into the corner with lift of oversteer
