Next job on the list..

I just want to know why their is 4 wires going down to the switch.. I'm thinking maybe 2 are for the switch and 2 for the inhibitor if it were the automatic version.. as some times they use the same wiring looms.. but I'm not too sure

i need to know because I'm having problems with the switch and I'm going to wire in my own switch

Thanks

in my micra there is one connector with 2 wires going to the switch, maybe you are wrong? the switch in the gearbox just closes the circuit and the light will go on. there is no need for 4 wires

The Super S and other ecc models do have a neutral switch, which tells the computer what settings to use i.e weather the car is just stood idling, or weather it's in gear and needs to be ready haul ass down the road. This often gets over-looked when people swap ecc gearboxes for non-ecc ones. The computers don't like it when sensors stop sending them info.
