I previously posted regarding my 2004 K12 lemon. Well I finally got it back from the garage and despite having a refurbed cylinder head it still smokes & runs poorly. The mechanic has diagnosed broken rings (without removing the head again or block) as he says it's down on pressure in one of the cylinders. It really does smoke badly but only after idling for a minute or so at lights etc, on a run it isn't smoking at all so I think he's probably right on that diagnosis. It has only done 32k and isn't a quiet engine either.
Since he's done the head and replaced it he's not willing to stand the labour to re do the work and cost involved in taking the head off again to get at the piston rings and wants another £500 to re ring & repair.
I'm now on the lookout for a good engine that I can put my newly refurbed head onto or even a complete engine in good condition.
It's almost definitely a CG10DE 1.0L engine, will any of the bigger engines such as a 1.2 go in?
