So I'm pulling my hair out here.
As in my previous thread, my ECU died on my 2003 k11 micra Tempest 1.0. The number on the ecu is 0261207584.
1. Would an ecu with the same serial number work as a drop in replacement?
I've heard contrasting things here. I've had one mechanic tell me that yes, an ecu with a matching serial number will work with the existing immobilizer etc, and I've had another tell me that no, NATS would need to be paired and the only ones who can do that are Nissan and Nissan dealers don't touch cars as old as mine (plus they'd charge more than the micra is worth).
2. If no, then is there a way to reprogram the ECU?
See, here the thing is I feel like there must be. If you look on ebay you can see LOADS of ecus and immobilisers being sold individually, and if there was no way to pair them or program them to work then no one would be buying them, right?
3. If no, then where can I find an ecu kit with matching ecu, key, and immobilizer?
That's what has been suggested, but trawling Ebay has yielded not a lot. So uuuh... Yeah. Do you know where I could find anything?
4. I've heard rumour of someone (Fusion Motorsport?) doing pre-nats ECUs or ECUs with nats wiped off or something modified to work with later model k11 micras. Would this Holy grail nats less ecu be a drop in replacement? Would there be any immobilizer shenanigans? Who is it I need to talk to about this?
Cheers all, I just feel like what I'm being told doesn't make sense and I want to get to the bottom of is this realistically fixable or do I need to scrap a perfectly mechanically sound car. So... Yeah. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated
