RAM Q's

hi guys need some pc help...

any body got any idea what ram i need and how to get the best out of it...

basically i have 4x184pin dimm slots (think that's right)

and am running as standard 256MB DDR PC3200 CL3...

Now i dont know what all that means and feel dumb so HELP!!!!

i got a E-machines 3240 and it states 2gb max...

i really just want 1024mb...

Q: will any 184pin ddr work? will i have to use 2x512mb and keep it balance or can i use 2x512 + leave the std 256mb in giving 1536mb?????

If you have one 256, then get 3 more maybe, or if you have less, I would get two 512's, and you could always get two more in the future making the max of 2gb.

rang a pc components shop earlier to get more help and he went on about it's not important about PC3200 cl3 i can put in any...

But then asked if i want "Registered" or "Non-Buffered" as thats important...

DOH! so i have no idea how to find out if mines either...

Stuck i'm afraid... any help would be great or even a forum address for PC dudes...

you dont need reg or buffered.

Bog standard DDR3200 will be fine. get a pair of 512 or something. Job done.
