Question about installation of new MAF sensor (DTC P0100)

Dear Micra fanatics,

Recently I managed to get my first car, a Nissan Micra K11 1.4 from 2001. An incredible car, 134k on the odometer and a little bit of cosmetic damage.

Mechanically it is fine and there is nothing to complain about. However, the only problem was that the idle speed was on the low side. So I, cleaned the IACV and MAF sensor. To my surprise, the car now gives error code P0100 (Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor circuit).

I probably damaged the MAF sensor more than it cleaned it. But mistakes happen and we learn from them.

Now I'm wondering if there is a specific procedure for installing the new sensor. I read something on the internet about how the ECM/ECU needs some time to get the correct air/fuel ratio back. But are there any Nissan-specific things that I should take into account?

Yours sincerely.

I haven´t tinkered with the new style removable MAF K11 micras but I am pretty sure that you can straight swap the sensor and be good.
Only thing are long term fuel trims that are stored in the ecu. If its been running with a bad MAF then it most likely has been altering the trims to try and stay within the fuel map parameters preset.
You can run the car normal and with time this trims should get back to normal values or yoy can have the battery unplugged for some time to reset them.
Honestly just swap them and any hesitations from the trims (even if they are super bad they shouldnt be very noticeable) should be gone after some driving.

Yeah I unplugged the battery and swapped the old maf with a new one. This resolved the problem and no codes are showing.

Was much more straightforward than expected.
