Power output 1.3

Hola. Getting my car on the rollers again this Wednesday. Just wondering what sort of power other people cars are putting out?
Be interesting if the members posted up what mods they have done and what proven figures they are running? Think this would be of interest to a lot of members to see what mods are good and what not so good etc.
I'll start
1275 cc , 254 cup cams, janspeed exhaust (2" bore) janspeed de cat silencer, removed mesh from throttle body, gpA airfilter (grill feed type) adjustable fse fuel regulator, iridium spark plugs, car puts out 95@ wheels 6400 rpm which is 116@ flywheel
Getting cam timing played with tomorrow to see if can get a bit more mid range or maybe top end? Who knows maybe no gain at all.

Yes that's with an exhaust manifold sorry. I've always used this dyno Moselys in west Wales as found it to be more consistent and accurate than my local dyno. My local dyno always reads more and the cars I had always drove crap afterwards. Moselys is doing a lot of 1000cc challenge micras and they are normally at the front of the field so he must know his micras by now haha.
I know dynos do vary but it would be nice to see what results people are getting on their local dynos.
There maybe a few people on here using the same dyno.

I know dynos do vary .

after reading the group dyno threads on AOC i wont bother going again, when several cars are getting 20 or 30 hp difference in figures it just seems a bit pointless to me :suspect: (tho the shape of the curve and a/f/r values are worth getting)
1/4 mile times FTW :grinning:

Never done a quarter mile myself. Those times don't lie though!! 20-30 is a massive difference when only got a few to start with. Just been on the phone to matt Humpris, he was talking to Moselys earlier and they are going to raise my rev limiter to about 7200 and see how she does. Even if just falls on to cam better when changing gear should be a bit quicker. Will see Wednesday. This is where the car was done last time so should be a fair comparison. Time will tell

Agreed with Frank, comparing figures between dynos is pretty pointless and has caused plenty of noses to be put out of joint in the past, (not that that would happen again).

We run on at Surrey rolling road, which is right next to Ed at Fusion Motorsport. It's one of the more conservative dynos in the UK and often causes people to scratch their heads when they turn up and suddenly lose 20% on previous figures.

As an example, when I started to use surrey rolling road, (previously used a Sun rolling road in Andover), we saw a net loss of around 20bhp and 15lb/ft torque. We always knew the figures were on the high side but not by that much! So even on a small engine figures can vary wildly.

What I can say is based on your spec, which is what we ran on the car a few years back, we showed 85bhp@wheels and 106bhp@flywheel at the same rpm, (same transmission losses, which are within the usual 19-23bhp range by the way). So based on a similar spec one could say there's an approximate 10% difference.

Edit: Ah ha, Mr Humphris is back from hols or just popping in? I need to bend his ear over brakes so I can get my wheels sorted pronto!

The best 1000cc car that Moselys has done is 81 bhp @ flywheel, when speaking to matt earlier I'm sure he said the best one he has done was 83 I think. So got to be somewhere similar if both people got similar results with a few cars. but that's only 2 dynos :grinning:
I know Moselys has had engines built and dyno'd on a proper engine dyno ( out of car) then fitted them and run them up on the rollers and been within 2-3 bhp.
I'm happy to always use this rolling road as I feel it's quite accurate from my experience and can compare it to similar cars in the area. Well mainly when was running my escort as most of the west Wales boys go there so it's a fair comparison and they love the escorts.
I've used abercynon rolling road before where my old vectra with a red top engine produced about 125 @ wheels which was calculated by the operator to be 174@ flywheel-mmmm bit of transmission loss???
Maybe my car is less power else where or more I suppose as long as I stick to the same one then it's a good datum for mods. Some rollers are different granted but I thought some people would still like to stick their results.

That's precisely why we don't compare figures between dynos because people will always stick to their figures and find some explanation as to why they are accurate. As long as you stick to the same rolling road you will always stand the best chance of comparing setups and seeing gains/changes etc which is always the best way to go :)

I'll post up comparative figures when our next engine is done.

Fair comment. Exactly right actually haha.. Be nice if someone would actually calibrate the dyno s so I could then prove to you all that my standard 1300 with a k&n makes 257bhp etc haha.
I will get a before and after run on Wednesday and put a picture up of the print out. Hopefully the dip at 4k will be less in the 2nd graph and the car will be more drivable
