PistonHeads.com: Pratt-Nav

idiot.

the sat nav is not at fault. if he wants a short cut, it will give him a short cut, its a machine and can only do what you tell it to. it wont get lost, it wont tell you to go the wrong way. it does as its told. how does it know if your in a truck, a plane or walking? you could be on stilts for all it knows....

if he selected shortest route instead of fastest route then it will normaly take the route as the crow flies.

READ THE BLEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
we have at least 4 calls a day at work for people who claim to have been sent the wrong way, and every time they simply havent read the instructions and have used it incorrectly.

I've heard some sat navs can do routes depending on what vehicle you have, automatically making you avoid certain roads, but yeah it's totally the fault of the driver, especially if he can't read English road signs too.

People seem to forget they're a driving aid and should be used as an assistant. Mine's told me to drive across fields and stuff before, but i used my brain and decided against it!

We have had several people in our area roof deep in water cos their sat nav told them to. People that stupid shouldn't be allowed a licence.

Remember that story about the woman who drove down a railway line or something like that? Was quite recent!
