Only runs for 7 seconds

Hi All pulling my hair out now my Rreg Micra only runs for 7 seconds then shuts down i have tryed second hand ecu and barrel and keys thinking it cud be a NATs problem butnothing seems to work anyone any ideas??

Is the chip in your key? Cause if you start the car with a non genuine key it will run for a few seconds then the malfunction light will flash then it will stall

Unlucky 7

Air - check:

1. air filter blocked
2. air intake blocked

Fuel - check:

1. fuel pump is running when the engine is running
2. fuel filter is not blocked

Spark - check:

1. there is HT getting to the distributor
2. is there an aftermarket alarm on the car stopping the ignition

Exhaust - check:

1. catalyst blocked (check both stages)


Qs for you:

What happens at the end of the 7 seconds - does the engine cut out immediately or does it falter and die gradually ?

Do you get any abnormal warning lights displayed when the engine stops?

How long do you need to leave it before re-starting to run another 7 secs ?

Can you rev the engine during the 7 secs - if so, does that shorten the time the engine runs ?

What happened between when the car was running OK and this situation ?

When I had this problem it was simply the fuel pump fuse connection had rusted up and needed replacing. But looks like you covered that already!
