my mate laughs at me because he has a mk4 escort xr3i convertible fully resprayed ok its a nice car but he was given it and not spent a penny on it yet all the micra's on here have had a lot of effort and work go into them not to mention money and love. you can not fully appreciate a micra till you have drove one then you see that the "granny mobile" is a fun little car full of heart that always makes you smile from ear to ear :laugh::grinning:

I wouldnt take any notice of it mate. Either simply ignore, point out something crap about thier motor, or probe them, in an amusing way, as why they think its crap.
As has been said before people who make assumptions about cars are usually insecure about thier own pathetic world. Often they are also the type who've never experienced cars like ours.
Example; I own(ed) Rover 800s. When people ask me what car I own, I usually get the old "Rovers are crap" line, I often ask them what makes them crap, they cant usually answer me, because they dont know and only parrot what they've heard. When they actually see the car they are left in awe at it. The opulent full leather, electrically reclining front and rear seats, the smoothness of the ride and sheer power from the 2.7 24v V6 honda engine leaves them suprised.
It is true to say that society has got lazy today, as opposed to actually learning and gaining experince, the great unwashed today just try and use second-hand knowlege to make themselves feel and sound like they actually know something, not often realising that they actually sound pathetic.
I've not had many actual comments about my car but I do get treated like a second-rate citizen whilst driving, being tailgated/cut up/pulled out in front of and generally being treated like I'm not there is all in the normal day of a Micra driver I'm afraid, people are just too stupid these days to use common sense.
When that happens, often I'll flick the bird or do the same they have done to me, it doesnt help and can cause trouble. You just have to take it on the chin and arrive at your destination safely.
There is one thing I have to say, and I know many of you may not agree, but bodykits and visual modifications do invite the mouth-breathers/unwashed to try and race you/laugh at you I'm afraid. I once owned a Rover 827 with full bodykit, driving through popular retail park-type areas did often invite the wannabe racers more than when I had a non body-kitted Rover 800.

I own 3 Rover Sterlings at the moment, sadly, not one of them is on the road. One of them decided to throw in the towel engine-wise so I'm using my Micra, which tbh has reignited my passion for them.
I still like my Rover 800s though.
You say you are Happy with your Micra. Just be happy ! They have no idea what a cracking little motor they are, Their loss. Ignore them, be content in the knowledge that yours is by far the better car. NEVER get wound up by these T*ss*rs just sit back and cruise on. IF you start on them you just make it worse. CHILL OUT and cruise.

I got that all the time, especially with my "shout out loud" styling. Pink dildo gear knob, silly stickers, yellow headlights which are always on and then its 100mm lower. I just laugh at them back, cos I know my car is awesome and their is poo or even worst nothing Loving 15 year old chavs giving me looks. What the #### they got? BMX or skate board? lol
Dont worry about it at all. People just got no balls to tune the unknown. Most of micra stuff is DIY or hard to find and not of the shelf stuff. Thats whats makes our cars better. (Y)

on a serious note mate do not sell your car ive had it 2 like evryone sez on here take no notice ive had corsas puntos clios ripin it behind my ass but once ive put the foot down the shock n shame on der face is jus priceless now the word around birmingham is have you seen ha really quick micra blah di blah i actually get ppl stopping me asking me if im selling the car you got 2 look at it this way micra is different and a one off you modify it theres hardly any micra the same as yours as with clios n puntos n corsas you see a modified on every mile on the motorway or in town lol as with the bigger cars like bmw's they race me yeah when they at the traffic lights i just tell them are you for real go and race a car that would actually ripp ya ass lol keep the micra there the best and relaible (Y)

Since the first post, the abuse which I got nearly every day has dramatically decreased. Don't know why, but I haven't had a bad comment for at least a month. Had a compliment too but think that may have been sarcasm. Also met an ex-micra enthusiast at work who used to tune rally cars and we just talked about how underated our micras are and how that can be a good thing.
I can accept that the micra isn’t a cool car for many people, and which is something I personally use to my advantage as it can easily exceed other peoples expectations. I always love shocking kids in clios and saxos etc. who stereotype micras as slow but then realise they don’t have its acceleration so then overtake it doing silly speeds a mile later. some random dude come up to me in KFC car park while i was geting out my car and it went like this
he asked me the usual question.. 'why a micra? i like it but why did u chose a micra?'
so i replied with: 'well why not a micra? what car do you drive?'
'i got a saxo vtr, that one over there'
i looked and said 'enough said..' and walked off! ha

You have to remember what you bought the car for, mine has plenty of space for all the crud I carry for work (no room for passengers any more), fits in the tightest of parking spaces at work (a big plus), good heater, good radio, handles well and does 53mpg.
I'd love to drive a big powerful car all day long but it costs me £100 a month of diesel for the micra.

You shouldnt be surprised by this, BMW/Audi/Other Germanic machinary drivers dont like being overtaken by anything considered "lesser" by them. I've had this in my Rover which is a 2.7 V6, which frankly is alot more powerful than a 1.8 dizzler Beema or whatever.
In fact, to be honest, I've never found any driver to be happy being overtaken by a Micra, some will go out of thier way to not be beaten, taking some seriously dangerous risks in order to cool thier egos. I often get this with Zafiras/Vectras/Megan Scenics/scooters etc.... all driven by seemingly normal people who drive to out and about - For some unknown reason, as soon as they see a Micra overtake, Red Mist decends in front of them! TW47S!
I think you need to have seriously high level of patients, because you do sadly get judged on the roads these days according to what you drive. In the Rover, as old as it is, I know I have the power to leave them in the dust, I dont in the Micra so often I'll just stay to one side and let the TW47s in thier Germanic machinary get on with trying to crash.

Hi, I spend most of my time in Worksop, but you can also find me in Sheffield and Lincoln. The areas not exactly rough just suppose it's the occasional person who 'does it for a laugh'. But don't get it that much now, just the usual inconsiderable, inpatient cocks that see all other cars as obsticles who flash n tailgate, had someone put their full beam on at night while right behind me so the cabin was completely lit up which ####ed me right off.
Been driving around at rush hour lately so I've come across alot of stupid things people do to try n overtake. Just the other day I saw an aston martin do some crazy stunts, saw him about 4 or 5 cars behind me, I just made it through a set of lights and the car behind stopped but saw mr.aston pull out and dashed across the crossroads, which must have been on red. Then he stayed on the otherside of the road and squeezed past me and the car infront, while cars are coming the other way! Then just a few seconds later a car infront made a right turn forcing the aston driver to brake heavily and swerve back into correct lane, which was all crazy but it's not that uncommon really. But got to the next set of lights and he was about 15 cars back and stationary, he then pulled out onto the other side of the road again and when the lights turned green he floored it, n my god they can move, but he nearly smashed it into an on coming car that just turned off a side road, then nearly smashed it again in some cars turning right at the lights. I expected to, and really wanted to see it further down the road in hedge, didn't get the pleasure though!

You're lucky yours even gets noticed, nearly got wiped out overtaking a Saxo on the dual carraigeway the other day. Knobhead just thought he'd come over without even indicating with his fancy lexus lights. Almost wish he'd overcompensated when he dived back to his lane after a horn and light blast and ended up in the field.
To be honest, if you pay any attention at all to these dickweeds euro_micra you're just giving them what they crave. What they need is a good slap.
The ones that make me laugh are the idiots in Corsa SXis who think it's a race from every set of traffic lights. I'd rather keep my license than outrun one of them round a city.

Depends on the person and what they're doing, I'd prefer to remind 'em that the little tin box they see and that they are trying to run off the road has a person in it, and who might bite back if pushed. Annoying how people act like there not in the real world while in there cars. haha just reminded myself of the AXA car insurence ad.

Not had anyone bar everyone in my office say anything about the micra (thats more to do with having quite a few nice cars before this, joking stops when I ask how much it cost them to fill there tank lol), but then it's standard also suppose being 6ft skinhead may help to. Wait til it's dropped on my rims then that may change, what ever though, haters are always gona hate.
