need to remove Clarion radio unit from 2008 micra

hello, my battery died on my 2008 micra yesterday and now i can’t find the radio code so i guess i have to remove the radio unit to find its serial number but i don’t see how to do that. can anyone help me? its a clarion radio unit with single cd player and bluetooth. there are two screws on the fascia below this unit but before removing them and plunging in i’d like some advice re how to do it. regards, johnbee

There's a bolt at the top back, you need to lift the dash up at the split to see it.

You'll also need to move one of the vents to get it out by the steering controls.

You can lift the dash enough without removing it to get a socket in

vexorg many thanks for your replies. before tackling the task i need to ask - its good that i don’t have to remove the dash top panel as Mike the Finn shows in his photos but how do i remove the consul vent, you mentioned? is it a matter of unclipping it once the radio/cd is pulled forward enough to give access to the vent? regards, Johnbee

many thanks for this information Mike. the photos were very self explanatory. i’ve attached two photos showing my clarion radio/cd unit which is slightly different from the unit shown in your photos. my car also has a one piece upper dash and Vexorg advises that i can release the upper retaining bolt without removing it. please forward any more tips. regards, Johnbee

hi, following your advice i managed to pull the radio out until it wouldn’t come any further and i guess ihave to remove one of the vents as you suggest, but there’s a label on the top surface of radio giving the following information
serial number PP3000MB 0005239 (e13 in a square) 034082 TYPE PN 3000 T16509/Z05192 part number 276-0034-56 Is that sufficent information for someone to give me the code to reset my radio?
If not and i have to remove the radio completely, to see if there’s further information on its rear face will you please tell me how to remove the vent tube adjacent to the steering column? regards, Johnbee

hello again, i managed to remove the nearside heater tube and removed the radio unit. On my Clarion unit there is no label on the rear face of unit but i was to read the upper portion of the label which said
nissan part no 28184 BG00A model no PP-3000M and i attach a photo showing the blue stamped number 170671, which seems pertinent. Can someone please tell me what code i need to key in? regards, Johnbee

to complete this post may i thank the members of this club for the existence of these forums and the help they provided me. with the information i obtained from their help i was able to obtain the radio code from my local Nissan dealership at no expense to me.
