i realy want to black the headlights out just dont wanna brake headlights so i might buy a pair and have ago then fit them and i wanting the grey bits matt black?

Blacking the lights is fairly simple I think you'd manage :)

Could try Matt black, just never seen fully colour coded before (I don't think). Black would match the spoiler though!

i might have to have a go some time, how did u do urs?
id like to spray the grey bits red but i just dont think it will go

Aye, it does look smart mate!... Nice one!...

As for the lights, it is quite easy really. davey1991 did a guide:

Just take all the bulbs etc out, pop in oven for a few mins & seperate. You can either mask off the indicator section or just paint that black too, as davey has since and I did too. You can de-globe them too I believe, that is take the orange lense out so the glass is all clear like early facelifts...

Couple of suggestions though from my recent experience...

  • Don't be afraid of leaving them in the oven too long, longer they're in (within reason) the easier it is to remove glass (just keep an eye on them, couple of minutes tops). I didn't do mine long enough and the glue was like stringy cheese... very messy...
  • When prying the glass from the backs, try not to put bends and stuff in the back as they're a pain to seal...
  • Try to keep as much of the original glue on the light as poss... I scrapped it all off the glass and cleaned it, this isn't a problem.
  • When it comes to sealing them back again, put glass back on, put back in oven to heat the glue again. Press them together as hard as poss to re-seal, maybe even clamp them till they set. Then just put tiny bead of seal into the remaing gap...
The last one is the most important I'd say... wish I'd done it but learnt from my mistake. I used sealer on top of the original, hard glue and it took ages to dry inside the light and I did have fogging problems...

I did do what you're thinking about though and bought a second set to be safe, but if you've got a whole free day and you don't need the car, theres no reason why you can't do it!... Hope that helps!? :)

thanks for the help and im gonna have to wen i get silver bulbs if i take the orange out :) and i might get a spare cause knowing my look il smash them lol

I'm going to clean the number plate area soon lol and I keep meaning to do the headlight but I need a new unit as I have a crack in drive side :) plus I'm the alloys will be gone soon as I'm selling them :)
 
Looking good with the black grilles Mario... Can't wait to see it with all the other bits sprayed too!... You attacking the lights with the spray can while you're at it? :p

Are they new grilles are they? Thought he'd sprayed the red mesh ones black?...

I wonder what the lights would look like sprayed another colour other than black? I was considering doing mine red, blue or white... but chickened out! :p Man, I could've been a trend setter!...
 
Well not too sure, call them new grilles purely because there different :p
hmm like your thinking, I've fly-eyed mine and upgraded the bulbs! ...you'd have to go wacky with the colour! :rolleyes:
 
Well black goes with anything, and as he's spraying everything else black it's the obvious choice.... But what about red or white? Wish I'd tried mine a different colour... much as I like them black... just to be different! Can see me buying yet another set now to spray...

Facey B? Yeah, left one is defo meshed still, right one hard to tell but has a hole cut in it... Gotta be a cold air feed or something maybes?

haha oh there the same grills and yes there is a sneaky hole for my induction kit :D yes i wanna have a go with the headlights, might go red to set off a new style ;) but im wanting to find 4 hub caps now so i can have black steels with red caps :D
 
Hows the induction kit gonna work if you don't mind me asking? Obviously you have a hole in the grille so imagine you'll have an intake cone or whatever there... But how will it work what with the bonnet opening & closing etc?

Or am I just over thinking & over complicating this as per usual?
