MOT failure

My k11 went in for MOT and failed on some minor faults. The major faults was it needed some welding. Quote I got was £200 but when they went to do it, it turned out to be a bit worse than expected. About £500-600. I was wondering if there was anyone in the club that could give me av rough estimate of the value, even as an MOT failure. Its an 02 Vibe.

£600 plus VAT repair costs render it beyond economic repair & is therefore scrap & parts.

Perhaps it would be more cost efficient to buy something newer?

The best option may be to call a couple of local scrap yards to quote the scrap car price value minus its pick up collection costs?
