Micra Weight reduction.

How light can you make a micra? Me and my dad were talking about a bike engined micra as a wee project toy but if its not gonna be light enough then it wont benifit. he recentlywrote of his Honda Blackbird so an engine could be sourced fairly cheap.

the base weight is about 835kg so minus simple things like the rear seats door cards maybe 800kg then sound deadining maybe 795kg. anyone got a fairly stripped micra?

mine,s lost a few kg,s, with the sunroof removed, perspex r1/4 windows, towing eyes (both sides) removed, flywheel and various engine brackets, and the thick casting around the r/drums ground off, and look how thin my pre98 driveshafts are  (yet they,ll transmit 100hp ok)
a lot of the k11 is over-engineered imo, and with the lighter 1.0 g/box and running gear, 700kg,s is an easy target imo :)

if i remember correctly little bandit was 640KG's with a whopping SR20DE cast iron lump in the front. so with a bike engine would be close to 580kg's.

bike engines have been put in micras before and the power to weight ratio of any bike engine makes for a sprightly performance gain..
