Micra K11 won`t accellerate

Hi
I have a 2001 UK model Micra Auto which seems to run fine on idle but won`t rev past 2500 in drive - I`m gonna do the throttle body thing tomorrow, but just in case has anyone had this problem before?

maybe something has gone wrong and the ecu has gone into safe mode. i dont know about micras but i know if in my car and something serious is going on the ecu goes into safe mode and no rev past 3000rpm.

if what brendon says is the case remove the negative terminal off the battery for say 5 minutes, then put it back on. In my rx7, doing this would reset the ecu.

not sure if you managed to find the problem yet. I had a the same type of problem with my NCVT. I found that the transmission kickback cable running to the throttle body had slipped off some how. accel was good up to around 2500rpm and then it just died. like shifting into 5th at 30km/hr.
