Micra1.4SE 2002 reg :- Symptoms - annoying rattle from front when driving on uneven road surface. Clue :- stops as soon as brakes are pressed lightly. Cause1) - front brake calipers, sloppy fit of caliper 12mm headed slider bolts in caliper. These are the 2 bolts that hold the caliper slider to the fixed part of the caliper-its caused by a sloppy fit in the holes of the slider. FIX - clean up all the slider parts and the fixing bolts-they have a plain shank next to the bolt head-clean this with a wire brush.Cut 2 strips of aluminium from a thin beer can 6mm wide & about 12mm long and wrap these around the bolt shank and grease lightly. re-insert bolts and torque up. Re-fit wheel.
Cause 2) Brake pad anti-rattle springs- clean,re-tension and refit or replace with new - lightly grease - all will be ok!
