Leaky sunroof PLEASE HELP!!

hi, I’ve got a 1994 k11 micra with a sunroof and it’s recen started leaking at the top or the A pillar I have checked the drain and it works absolutely fine however it still leaks!!
I did notice the seal looks pretty cracked and perished but from a previous thread it would seem that they let the water in anyway and just goes down the drain, can’t seem to upload a video of it leaking so contact me on my instagram @thornhill_james

Hi could be leaking through the glass panel rubber surround if so you need to gently prise it from the glass in small sections at a time thoroughly clean out the mould/dirt ect! Apply a bead of high quality sealant in-between the glass and seal ensuring to squeeze down the rubber seal to the glass so the sealant seeps out then clean the access off the glass. Thorough preparation is the key to success in this task! B-)

Im having same issue, looks like same sun roof as above on the red micra, mines a 2002 Tempest. It has dripped in either front corner since i got the car, water must be getting under the seal and around from where it pools, on whichever side is lowest.
What i want to do is get the glass out and go right around cleaning and re-sealing the rubber to the glass.
Whats the easiest way to get the glass out?

If your not bothered about opening the sunroof ever again use TigerSeal
Clean and dry the top ,then seal with this several times but leave 24 hrs between applying.

Do not remove the glass, that may create more problems than its worth.

Do not bodge it up attempting to seal up the whole sunroof as erroneously suggested by others.

I have been DIY fixing leaks simply & easily without fail on my old banger Micras for twenty five years as follows.

May I suggest using good quality DIY clear silicone sealant between the glass & the glass edge seal?

This is the cheapest, easiest & quickest DIY solution to most to most vehicle body weather related leaks that preserves the functional use & appearance of the vehicle.

Good luck fixing it.

SUNROOF LEAK FIXED!

Hi.
Thanks for your reply. When i said get the glass out i meant the whole unit including seals.
Anyway the sun came out yesterday so i had a go.The sunroof is only held in by 4 torx screws. I dont have many torx screw drivers but was lucky to find a multi head driver kit from poundland which had one that fitted. I got theroof off and cleaned the old silicone off. I got a thin plastic card with a rag around it and used it to dry and clean under the rubber all way around the seal.
Then i masked the glass and used silicone sealant and pushed it under the rubber with the plastic card all the way around. I then added a bead of silicone all around on the glass and did the same on the interior of the glass around the frame. Ive checked today in the rain and its all dry. So far so good. Hope it lasts a long time. I can take the masking tape off now.

That's the way to do it, quick & simple. Good quality external silicon sealants are Sunlight resistant? :)
