k12 stereo turns itself on

Hello all - new member as daughter has purchased a 54 reg micra. Car had 1 owner with 25K miles - lovely little thing. Only issue so far is when you are driving along with the radio off - it will randomly turn itself on! Is this a common issue and can it be rectified? A little concerned that it will happen during the night and drain the battery - is this possible? She says the car is haunted - not sure if this is the case!! Thanks in advance - John (& Katie)

Sorry cant help, but my sisters old 306 use to turn its heater on by itself due to electrical gremlins

Thanks anyway. I think I have misled you all! I went out with her to show me whats happening - and she is turning the stereo onto 'MUTE' and not completely 'OFF'. Having said that, it does jump back onto music from mute - with no buttons being touched. Maybe this is how it should work anyway?

Another update - stereo did not turn itself on all day today (from off position) ...Then...turned the sidelights on and a few seconds later...on came the stereo. Help!!
