K12 ignition barrel problem

lost the blade for my k12 smart key so got another one from Nissan but it doesn't turn the ignition,went back to Nissan and they are telling me it's definetly not the new key blade it's the barrel , can these be changed diy style or is it a main dealer job

The ignition barrel should be a wired plug and a few screws if I'm not mistaken. Definitely doable if you ask me
