K11 1998 1.3 swap nats issues numerous fix's failed

Having nats k11 issues, Red key chip 1998 flashing engine light, changed pillar nats box and got matching ecu and key present, same problem, ive got strong spark across all four cylinders and fuel at the rail but no luck still stuck with the flashing engine light.

I've seen on older posts Fusion motorsport ed made custom ecus which I tried to replicate, had no flashing lights but still no start.

Feeling very stuck with this atm Before 1.3 swap car was spot on, 1.3 swap lasted about 3 months then started to feel like a crank sensor going wrong (micra hasn't got one if I'm correct) then lead to this problem,

If anyone has any help would be much appreciated cheers.

I have never work with a micra with NATS but i know they can cause some trouble. This case is strange as you said car was working fine.
Few tips i can think of:
  • Check fuses and relays.
  • Put a screwdriver on the injector (to hear it click while cranking) or take them out with the fuel rail still attached. (You say that fuel goes into the rail but if the problem is the nats maybe it is not opening the injector and the fuel its just returning to the tank).
  • Check the distributor trigger wheel (used for RPM and TDC signal). Check the manual for what to check as this is the only remaining component that i think its not letting the car start. (MAF could also be bad but this shouldnt be a problem for the engine to run).
  • If you already tried setting the ECU in diagnostics mode to see if the built in led shows any code. Better if you get a cheap consult cable and download Nissan Datascan you can check sensors and codes.
  • LAST RESORT: If all sensors seem fine then maybe the problem its the ECU/NATS. Then i would try using an early type ECU (Non NATS) and you can make it work with your car. Think there are a couple of threads with regards of removing NATS on this forum.
Ask if you need more help, you can check more things but this is what i would check first.

Thankyou I will give this a go tomorrow and going to order a consult cable and give it a scan and see what its saying,
I think the ecu is currently telling injectors not to fire, going to do live check across the Injectors and see where I get,

Thanks for the advive so far muc appreciated

Yeah thats the one with a 14 pin connector.
I never used the mini CD for the driver install but pretty much all come with FTDI 232RL chips to convert USB into UART so you can get drivers directly from FTDI website

Thankyou I have scanned it with an obd scanner that my friend uses to scan his micras and it wouldn’t scan, we have checked all fuel systems today and I had some blockages on fuel rail, changed fuel rail, changed distributor and throttle body and checked all earths.

The car will now run for 5 seconds then cutout and will not start again for another 30 seconds to minute, could fuel pressure do this? Still got the flashing engine light but I’m pretty certain nats isn’t kicking in and disabling anything.

Cheers for the reply deffo a lot closer now but just got to chase this problem now! 😂

Then im pretty sure that it must be the ECU. When i was fiddling with my non-NATS early ECUs i managed to somehow break one ECU i had for tests and the car did the same as you say, start and run for like 5 seconds(Due to the rail still having pressure).
I still havent found the fault with that ECU but yours could be having the same problem.
When putting ignition the pump always activates for like 5 secs. Then turns off until you start the car. Try and start the car and inmediately check the pump voltage to see if it still is getting power.
