Jammed sunroof

Hi,

My daughter's Nissan Micra (1994) has a manual sunroof that has jammed open fully retracted. The winding handle is extremely stiff but does turn slightly, but it has no effect on the sunroof.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this, or how to get the roof back into the closed position at least?

The car only cost £600, is this likely to be a non cost effective repair?

Go to a scrap yard and get a new mechanism. I had to do it when I bought my car, not too difficult, worst bit is getting the headlining in and out tbh.
