Is this an accepted way of purging the cooling system?

I went in to fit a thermostat today to my surprise It'd got one in already! When it came to refill and purge the air out the system I did it this way and watched the bubbles rise and the water level drop. What do we think?

i usually make sure the heaters are on hot on the temp dial and leave running and top up as needed but as rob said leave running for the fan to cut in a couple of times to be sure

Ah, yes. My heater matrix isn't currently connected. It was being replaced by an electrical heat/demist system but it's sat back into place empty right now.

The box sections carry the spotlamp brackets. A bit sturdy ain't they?! Not my idea, I bought it like that. At least the lamps don't vibrate, even thought they don't have tie straps to the bonnet. It can be done better but it's staying like that for now.
