Inlet pulley marks when installing timing chain

Just installed a new Genuine timing chain kit including a new inlet pulley which was already setup on the Left mark as you look at it (advanced). Installed the chain noting the three marks as per the FSM and turned it all by hand checking all was well and noticed that the inlet pulley has now moved to the other mark ie retarded. The way I read the FSM, this is OK as it means the pin is now engaged.
Can someone who has done this before just check that this is correct as my parts manager mate was told by one of the dealer mechanics that this is fine? Thanks

if its like the QG or non-uk GA VTC, then you should end up with -2 deg of overlap @ tdc when switched off, and 18 deg of overlap when switched on
(i can send the pdf if you cant find it online ?)

Just finished the timing chain change and all works fine. Runs sweet as a nut but the Air bag light is now flashing. I've got a feeling that it is due to disconnecting the front air bag sensor and battery during the engine removal. Do I now have to get Nissan to reset it ???
