That can overlay text on an image. Something free and simple really. That will read text from a file and overlay into an imagine. if it were CLI it would be even better! It's a lot to ask for but someone might have something they know of.

Its to automate a process that gets done every day. I dont want anything that would require me to do it manually every day as i can do that already with other methods.

I know there's a few other sys admins on here, so you might know of something i dont.

you can set photoshop to perform actions so for instance when you open a photo it will re-size it and add a text layer. if the text is the same all the time you can fully automate it and it will save it in the correct format as well.

with xamp installed, you can use imagemagick to achieve what you want. see: http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/annotating/ "As a final example I will overlay a text string"

thanks guys, but i've implemented my solution differently. More then 1 way to skin a cat and all that.
