A coverstitch machine is not just any sewing tool; it's the secret to seamless hems and stretchable stitches that move with your fabric. But what exactly should you be looking for in these machines?

To find a coverstitch machine that is easy to thread and use, you'll want to start with a strong base knowledge. Key features to consider include stitch types, speed control, and threading mechanisms. For instance, an affordable coverstitch machine can still offer a variety of stitch options to accommodate different projects.

Look for features like differential feed, which can help prevent puckering on stretchy fabrics. Additionally, an adjustable speed control can be beneficial when working with different types of materials. Threading mechanisms also vary from machine to machine, so consider your personal preference and ease of use.

Considerations Before Investing

Budget and skill level play significant roles in choosing the right machine. If you're starting out, choosing an easy to use coverstitch machine can make all the difference in your sewing experience. Additionally, space is a premium, so the best home coverstitch machine should be both functional and compact.

Durability and brand reputation are also critical considerations. A robust coverstitch sewing machine from a well-known brand usually comes with a guarantee of quality and availability of spare parts. Furthermore, consider the types of fabrics you will be working with most frequently; this will help you determine if you need specialty features that cater to delicate or heavy-duty textiles.

I have done one myself in the past and one been done by the garage this week! I always use the Nissan genuine thermostat, about £25 from the main dealer.

The bolts could of been in there a long time lubricate bolts with plus gas, not WD40 (I don't know why people reach for WD40, generally GT85 is far better)! I used Sika on my gasket, complete overkilll, you probably won't require it that strong. It's like all jobs fairly straight forward, but take your time on the bolts etc, nothing straightforward, if it hasn't been touched for decades!

you can use engine oil instead of WD40 as well.;)

of course get yourself fresh coolant and distilled water, maybe make a clean run only with water once.
U have to tunr the heater to hot to get all of the coolant out. AND to bleed air after filling.

IMPORTANT: get a few new hose clamps. old ones might be rusty and break. don't want to be stranded without.

use simple engine silikon that you can get for cheap. don't overdo it. You want to be able to take it apart again if necessary.
