I drain the gear oil,
remove speedo cable,
disconnect clutch cable,
disconnect wires,
remove driveshafts,
support the engine wedging block of wood between sump and centre beam,
remove the rear engine mount,
remove gearbox mount,
unbolt gearbox from engine.
then i made this balancing hook bracket which allows me to hang the gearbox on the crane whilst always keeping it level.
I always found it much easier ripping the engine and box out together, assuming you have an engine crane, then you can pop the gearbox off and on with ease, also prime time to clean up your engine.
