i have a 1989 k10 1 litre that i use for work,it has just started making an awful noise whilst driving,the noise comes from the gearbox and sounds like a bearing has broken up,it only does it in the first 4 gears and not in top,it is not the clutch release bearing.my problem is that i cannot find a gearbox that breakers are willing to guarantee at a sensible price,is it easy to replace the bearings in the box?i am not a good car mechanic but have been a motorcycle mech. for 17 years so know my way round an engine,is there an alternative box that will fit from another model?please help as the fuel consumption on my other car is crppling me!
