Flashing light in dash/engine electrical problem

]Hi ,
My car was running great,now it wont start.
It will turn over and feels like its about to start,but wont.
There is now a flashing lighy on the dash,ie problem.
Is there something That is usual to go wrong that I can check first,maybe faulty distributor cap etc etc.Any ideas apppresiated.

It turns over and aaaaaaaaaaalllllmost starts

Are you close to Leeds? I have a OBD Scanner and a list of codes on my computer at work.

nope/I did give someone a jump start,the day before.

yes,used jump leads,.
I will try ,checking for ,everything in the morning.

Hmmm, have you tried getting someone to give you a jumpstart? also do you know what size the vehicle engine you were jump starting and petrol or diesel? might of taken a bit out of your battery.

Petrol/small engine.
My battery is fully charged,did that yesterday.
will try a few things today,,,,,,???????????????a hammer...../........box of matches,
