Flasher Unit?

Yesterday my indicators stopped working. I pulled the fuse, it was fine, after putting it back they worked for about ten minutes and then stopped. I located the flasher unit and when I turn the indicators on I can hear it kick into life, but it doesn't click and the bulbs don't light up. Is this likely to be the flasher unit itself that has stopped functioning? It's the 25730 1f500 unit which looks like it can be picked up for a tenner third party or £150 from Nissan :eek:
 
The flasher control unit can fail due to internal dry solder joints & this is repairable.

Remove the flasher unit, prise open its plastic case & resolder the pcb connections using a little multicore solder.

Thanks, I pulled it apart and it does look to possibly be a joint that has a crack in it. For anyone interested, the generic £10 replacement on eBay is in and working. I was a bit worried after seeing Nissan wanted £150! You'll need a 10mm socket with a flex joint to get it out.

The original unit for those interested. Quite intricate. Anyone know how it works?

Repair the OEM unit solder joints as the £10 eBay tat is unlikely to be durable long term.
This is a simple timer circuit based on the indicator amps current
 
It’s a basic indicator relay, just buy a good quality aftermarket one. £10-20 tops.
Just done this on mine as I am re-wiring it to bike controls.

slight differences on the amount of pins but the concept is the same. Electric flowing through coil throws the switch, the switch being closed allows current to flow to indicator bulbs, current stops flowing through coil, switch springs back closed, indicator lights go out. I'd imagine the chip inside gives it some sort of intelligence that tells it how often to click on and off when you push the indicator lever left or right and energise the circuit. or that could be controlled by the capacitor I don't really know
