fitting head gasket

hey all im about to fit the headgasket now i have the bolts sorted on the k10
is it ok to apply some gasket paste around the gasket just to make sure its snug
or would you guys not recomend it ?
i have some of the red stuff that dont go fully hard

Usually you would juts make sure all decks are totally clean, you shouldnt need any sealent.

I really wouldnt use sealent as the gasket makes any seals required around the head also the sealent is a beatch to get off. I done a head on a clio which had sealent on took at least an hour cleaning of the sealent.

headgaskets usuallt have a varnish like coating that helps form a seal once the engine heats up.......the main thing is to make sure the block is totally clean ie no traces of the old gasket....have you had the head skimmed....allways a good idea......:grinning:
