Exhaust heatshield in engine bay - Actually required?

I know if something on the engine it's meant to be there!
Though my exhaust heatshield all the bolts have sheared off with heat & age, so nothing holding it place. Would this have a massive detrimental effect to the engine to run without it?

No its not needed. Just remove it. Im not sure if you need to put the bolts back. If i remember right you need to put some back to not have a exhaust leak out of the bolt holes.

Many thanks, the bolts are in there, they just have no heads!
I could just lift this straight out!
