Couple of questions

First one, on cold start in the morning when I turn the key in the ignition and the car starts there is a grinding noise just after the car starts for a few seconds, only happens first thing in the morning, would this be the starter jamming or what? And any easy fix?

Second question, there is a 2002 1.4 near me for sale, 38k, looks good condition, only problem is he is asking 1300, which seems way over priced to me, what would be a reasonable offer?

I have the same grinding noise when my car is could, I believe it is the starter motor, it won't do any harm to the car but after a while the noise does get annoying!

Yea it doesn't seem to be doing any harm, still starts first time, just be nice to get rid of it

Well ivw been told by several people it is the starter motor, I'm planning on changing my soon but it looks like a bit of a pain to change

Yea I guessed it was the starter motor, seems to get stuck or something for a few seconds after ignition, no idea about starter motors though so hopefully someone else has some helpful info

Lightly tap it with a hammer....works sometimes.
