Hello, hope someone can help; I was chaging down to second gear when a bang came from the clutch pedal, when lifted my foot the pedal did not come back up. Managed to just pull the car ovet and there was a small bit of plastic on the ground that came from around the pedal as seen in the pictures, any ideas of what has happened and how much around to fix? Cheers!

It is a 2001 micra. The pedal only comes back up from the floor when lift it

you,ll need to get a torch up there and see if the cable is still attached
Will do, but any idea what the bit of plastic is the fell off?
It looks like one of the arms the heater/blower adjusters attach to

check if the rivet pin at the end of the clutch cable connecting to the clutch fork has sheared off. mine was from excessive stress from a heavy resistance caused by a very sticky release bearing due to
clutch dirt/dust collecting on the grease it slides on
replaced mine with stronger nut & bolt and relubed the bearing collar with graphite powder
