Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying a second battery and replacing the existing one... but what i'm after is a small lightweight set of batteries that have good power outputs, even when cold and are good at being dicharged and recharged...

thanks people :)

look at jap imports mainly 240SX and 180SX, and some skylines they have a silly small battery

those batteries are very good for audio installations (big ones) as they are deep cycle,

or you could get loads of rechargeable AA's

lol,

well i think these are the ones i'm going for,

one Blue Top - BT-DC5.5 to start the car and
one Yellow Top - YT-S5.5 to run the Accs

expensive at £454.84 but woth it :)

Get a Yellowtop for the audio and split charge, then just a normal battery up front. A Bosch or Silver Varta will do the job :)

the yellow top being the best is actually a bit of a wives tale.

the red top out performs it in most areas, and is cheaper.

our team cars are running red tops this year.

yea but i'm sure red tops are better when it comes to things like starting etc, but the yellow tops are better suited to sound arn't they? i'm intrested to see how the blue ones perform...

thanks Retepetsir but i still have a load of crap wired into the existing loom of the micra so i think the starting battery will need to be a good one too,

lots of neons and other rice crap lol

If your not bothered about weight and what some cheap power, quite often on Ebay there are some huge ex nuclear power station batteries, but they weigh a ton and are massive. Many of this years spl cars are using them :)

wow that sounds pretty cool :D i bet they can handle a fair few amps :)

well i am kinda bothered about weight. i know having a big install and lots of other crap is going to slow the car down but i don't want the battery to add to it :) thats why i was looking at the optima batteries because they seem to be lighter than all the other performance batteries...

i think an ex nuclear power station battery would be too much for my car :) lol,

# Batcap X800 - 800A Peak Burst for 5 Secs OMG!!!

that is a bit of a bad ass :)

half the price and half the weight :) but i've heard nothing but good things about Optima... maybe a Batcap for the starter and a yellow top for the Accs...

thanks mate :) lots to think about now *gets out Ameter* :D

I had the Yellow top when i was running all my boot off of one battery, and the PS/2 with the DVD screens etc.

Worked a treat!

Nah, I wouldnt use it for a starter battery.

Just get a nicer Varta/Bosch Silver Top for your starter then either a Yellowtop/Batcap/Redflash (look at http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/index.php?cPath=73_56_59 for the Redflash, damn good batteries at a damn good price) running a splitcharge setup and you'll be sorted.

Saying that, I'm running a 1.6kwrms system with just a bigger battery up front and I'm fine :)

1.6kwrms!! do you have ear defenders in the car lol!

ok, maybe i'll just go for the light weight Batcap, for the Accs, and Bosch for the starter...

i've got a split charge relay for my trailer but i don't use it :)

thanks ppl, i'll go compare prices and weight and see what is best for my budget lol :D
