Alternator help,please

Hiya Guys,

Battery going flat overnight.
Bought and fitted remanufactured alternator today - what a job!!
Started with jump leads,although battery charger had green ok light on.

Took for a short run, switched off and it started fine.
Left for 15 minutes tried to start-battery flat.

Could I have put the alternator connector wiring plug in the wrong way round?
If so-what damage could I have done = anyone have wire colours for connector to which terminal.
Battery has been charged twice (without caps removed to allow gas escape and car has been run with fault till battery flat twice=not by me.

I am helping my wifes friend, to save money on garage bills.

Think battery is goosed, new one has to be +ve left hand side (from front of car) Japan make I've been told=anyone know the battery type code and best (cheapest) outlet.

Am I wrong, is there any easy known faults?
Any help gladly received

am sure it's battery, at fault what voltage is it reading at, mines did same and drained battery since I bought a battery and checked it over night was fine and never had a problem since, make sure there isn't anything switched on over night, in the car, and try a alternator meter test by starting car up and see what voltage it is reading? Hope this helps or if ur local I'll come and help
