air filter problem

right i put on a airfilter on my 1.0 and it sounds like #### how comes that i havve had cone on the tb and on end of box too and put it on the end of drain pipe and just sounds too loud when i put my foot down is there anyreason why my mate sed his sounded #### when he has a cat on his exhuast then he took the cat off and it sounds mint ?

That didn't make a great deal of sense to me.

The induction pipe amplifies the sound the air filter makes, that's why it's louder than just on the TB, it does have the potential to produce more power on an induction pipe as it is away from the heat of the engine. I cant see how the removal of the cat could have any effect on the sound of the air filter though.
