About Gearbox Spring

Hi,

My gear handle doesn't return back to normal position. I have opened the heat cover under the gearbox and saw that its broken. I took it out and twisted the broken side and replugged it. But still not returning back.
I have searched internet, there is only one guy who is selling for 39€ which its too much for me. Can I use any other spring?

Yeah I'd say so, most do as you've done bend the spring where it snapped and re attach it, it's not real sensitive to spring length or tension imo.

Maybe the linkage bushes are too rusty, sticky for the little spring to move and needs oiling?

Thank you for your reply. Its a very rust free car (except the sills). We have checked and oiled as well. I think a new strong spring can fix the problem but I can't find one.

Tried loosening the vertical bolt on the gear linage near the gearbox, on like a done bone, .y mates was like that I looses it alittle freed it off and put another nut on to lock it ,
