1993 Nissan Micra Super S - Mikey Mk2

Okay everyone, finally got round to taking some pics of the Super S (after polishing it of course). I've used my brothers DSLR but the pics came out a bit darker than I wanted.. You may need to turn the brightness up on your screen to view them properly.. Enjoy :)

And in case you were wondering how I got it so clean.....

1011772_10152944482070262_1571960195_n.jpg

I can't recommend the Blitz Carnauba wax enough, it really is the best wax I have tried, far surpassing Autoglym.. Although I still use Autoglym  What's good about the Blitz wax is that it can be layered as it is not an abrasive, meaning you can put a fresh coat on every 5 days to get a really deep finish.

Hope you enjoyed the pics, more to come soon!

Great looking car, very clean! :) what are the specs of the wheels/tyres btw? the poke on the front wheels looks spot on in the first picture

Thanks :) The wheels are 15" ET40 7J, I think the tyres are 165/50s iirc but I will have to double check, found out today that it is on 35mm Spax Springs as well, it handles pretty nicely - much more responsive than my first K11 :p

Rights guys, I have got big plans for this car :) I am planning on keeping it pretty much how it is for about the next year, apart from a few relatively minor changes.

BUT

I am saving up to turbo it next year, I would like to do it so that the car is reliable at high boost, which I guess means getting a forged engine. Whilst I am also relatively competent at mechanical things Micra related, I would like a professional to do all of the work on the engine.

I have been following a few other threads on here and I quite like the idea of using a re-fabricated SS Glanza manifold attached to a rebuilt turbo (not sure which one yet) plus the forged engine, lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch. I will also have to include all of the other things related to turboing a Micra (fuel pumps, fuel rails and injectors etc.) plus I will upgrade the brakes to cope with the power. I am not sure about race cams yet as I have been told it may make the car lumpy on idle (and it is going to be used as a daily driver).

Does anyone have any idea how much I am going to end up spending on all of this? As I would rather save up and buy everything at once (as well as paying for labour) in one go. I am thinking it will be upwards of £3000 (if I am lucky). Hopefully I can find people in the MSC community that are willing do the work on the car (that I can trust with my K11) such as Frank, Ed, and Matt Humphris, who I have been directed towards by other members on here.

Any thoughts and advice on these plans would be greatly appreciated :)

man best of luck with the superS looks amazingly clean,
and big credit to previous owners for minding it so well
cant forget those
cool car man:)

Thanks :) I thought they might have been a lower offset than 40 as mine are 7J et20 and don't poke enough (although mine's got rolled arches). I want to space mine to around et10, and i'm thinking of getting 165/50's but just haven't seen them on 7's in person yet

I was thinking of getting some Rota Grid-V's ET20 7J but was worried that they won't fit unless I roll the arches.. I'm pretty happy with the Lenso's at the moment though and you don't see many Micra's on them..

How does offset work then? I have tried researching and I understand the different between zero, negative, and positive offset. But doesn't the centre of the wheel get further away from the hub the larger the offset? So I don't get how you could space a et20 to et10? :p

I like your Lenso's, you don't see them often on micras so they look a bit different :)

Yeah, the higher the offset the further to the outside of the wheel the hub mounting face will be. If you used for example, a 10mm spacer, that would go between the hub and the mounting face of the wheel, which is like lowering the offset by 10mm thus making the wheel stick out that much more

Ahh okay, I think I am beginning to understand. Does that mean that ET38 Rota's will poke slightly more than the ET40 Lenso's? Or am I still on the wrong track

Yeah that's right, wheels with an offset of et38 will poke out 2mm more than wheels with an offset of et40, although you wouldn't really notice a 2mm difference

Calum mate we need to reunite the two motors some time if you are based near me. Would be lovely to see both of Shaf's cars next to eachother just one more time.

Sounds like a plan :) Where about are you based?

Would be cool to get a picture of them together and see the K10 again

Yeah mate that would be great.

Alternatively I just found out that there is a Jap School Club Meet at the Ace Cafe on the 28th (6pm) which is just down the road from me..

It gets pretty lively down there (youtube Ace Cafe if you haven't hear of it already). If you feel like coming down let me know and we could always meet up there instead? Otherwise if you let me know somewhere between Wembley and Reading, and a time and date we can meet up there.

They'll poke out by 2mm If I'm correct

Yes but not by much :)

Thanks guys, I'm planning on keeping the Lenso's but I am considering getting some different wheels for the Winter. I got a spare set of 15" alloys with 195s on them when I bought the car but I fancy sticking some Rota's on for the Winter instead. Either Rota Grids with 195 Proxes or Rota Grid V's with some stretch (not sure if this would be very good on icy roads though)..

If I get the Grid's and 195 Proxes I can paint the writing on the tyres white :D

I used to go down there quite alot with my dad. I will check tomorrow if I am free mate.

Saw a Super S being driven into the local scrappies today :( Wasn't in amazing condition, but certainly not worth scrapping! The guy wanted £140 minus the wheels; with 97,000 miles on the clock and in good running order. Would have probably taken it if it wasn't for lack of space and money amongst other things.

Its got the wrap around spoiler, black super S clocks and driving lights to mention but a few things (more noticeably it has discs all round). Already grabbed the wheels off of it for Mikey Mk1 as the guy wanted £40 for all 4 which didn't seem too bad considering they're in decent condition. Tonnes of Micra K11's in the scrappies round here, might pop back in a few days to see whats up for grabs.

There's a March Import with the rare rear number plate surround driving around my area which looks like its' on its last legs, if that turns up in the scrappies it will make my day! (Not that I like the thought of a Micra being scrapped)..

Too far from me or I'd lend a hand

Ahh that would have been great, shame your not closer really. I am trying to find a Micra enthusiast that would be willing to take on the challenge (preferably someone that has done an SR20DE(T) conversion before). Just trying to get some prices so I know how long I will have to save up for :p

I came to the conclusion that it is probably easier (and cheaper) to run an SR20DET unit at 5-8 psi than risk blowing up a CG13 trying to get 170+bhp which I imagine would require forged internals etc. I just want a car that is relatively rapid but still reliable. Guessing the labour on such a project would cost a small fortune, but I am not planning on getting rid of the Super S any time soon.

Not to mention the brakes / suspension / chasis would require upgrading as well

The list goes on...

All in all it'd be around £3-4000. If you have someone do it for you.
I'd get a donor car. Everything is there then. Just the modification of the driveshafts. That'd be an extra to the engine conversion.
Not to mention the rest :p

To be honest I wish I could do it myself as I feel like I am cheating a bit by getting somebody else to do the work, I am just worried that I would make a mess of my car which I definitely do not want to do

There's enough people on here to see you through it successfully.
Some may even pop over to help :)

Hmm I may be tempted, would definitely be a learning curve :) I just lack the use of a garage which makes things awkward for me. I might just have to take the car off of the road for a while once my insurance is up for renewal in about a years time, bite the bullet and do the work myself.

Unless I win the lottery

In which case I would build an RB26 AWD Micra :D

Yea do it :) driveway is all you need :) its the best way to learn about everything. As you have to get involved with everything

If you win the lottery... share :p

As for an RB26.... get in the queue ;)

Haha the only thing better than an RB26 Skyline is an RB26 Micra :p

As for the driveway, I don't even have one of those in London :( While I am at uni in Swansea though I have both a driveway and a garage..

But Uni = no money

So I guess I will just have to wait a while before doing anything, thanks for the advice / support though, and keep watching this space :)

Does this look suit my Micra?

And before anyone says anything - it is shopped and I am aware that the interooler may be slightly out of proportion :p

I am definitely not skilled enough to boost my K11 that quickly (and without asking hundreds of how-to questions first). :D

I have a job now though, so let the boosting begin!

It's good looking. :) I am going to boost soon in next year. There are load of informations on here. It's better to find these information before you start to boost.

I have done a fair bit of research already, been wanting to boost since I joined the MSC last summer :D
