Almost impossible to stop SS warping unless you bolt it down to a jig iv found.

Iv done a bit of DC stick welding lately. its a breeze, better than MIG imo unless you are doing <1mm. That SS stuff looks very nice Frank, did you get any warping of the flanges?

Nice tip! Might try changing mine as its a bit temperamental. SS should be done with pure argon reslly. Otherwise you introduce more carbon into the metal and it will rust (talking food grade tig rules here tbh).

Nice progress! Thought you were tig welding now? Surely easier for the exhaust? You use srainless wire in your mig? I struggled big time with that when I tried it!

what do you mean by lifted?

I had one fail the same way. I concluded that the failure started at a weld on the pin. The pin seems to be a cast (high carbon) steel which does not take kindly to being welded. It is also an area of high stress (see FEA results below). Not sure there is much you can do about stopping it...
