If the engine doesnt turn over when damp its likely to be an alectrical connection issue ... check battery connections and check leads are tight on starter motor.

Does it turn over or are you saying the starter dosnt seem to turn over or turns over slow ? If its not turning over the same as in the dry i would suspect loose connection to starter motor ... damps causing it to be worse

Car air filters are generally around an F7 or higher efficiency which should remove most particulate down to 1- 3 micron particle size. Running without an air filter is much like sand blasting the internals of the engine / pistons / valves .......... and it likely wont last long....... although...

If you take TB off will be easy to get the IAC off .... would definately give it a clean and replace the o ring....... B&Q do a pack of o rings for about 1.99 odd that fit fine ... little smear of oil so it seats properly...... its so cheap its worth crossing of the list imho

If you blip and it settles for a short time i dont think its sparks ... more likely to be air leak or Idle control valve dirty etc ..... might be the rubber o ring on that ..... mine had gone and was causing rough idle (not sure if you have the same as my 95 ..... but worth looking if you have...

Would pull a spark plug lead off .. one at a time.... use something insulated with rubber or you will get a shock ... see if there is NO difference as my first thought is you may have a duff spark plug / lead etc .... In other words its only firing on 3 cylinders ?

Ahhhhh RESULT ! No payment required .... very glad it was that.... nice cheap fix ! ....... :) Always remember if you start Micra ... move it up driveway and then turn it off .... it can flood ....... its a 90s throttle body issue that effects many type of car ... my 95 MERC also did it...

Just clean the distributor as best you can ... not an issue to have a little oil in there .... make sure the plastic cap is clean and dry :)

BEFORE you check spark .... If you can smell petrol ......... try to turn over for about 10 seconds with accelerator pedal held to the floor ..... I think this may well clear the issue as i suspect the engines flooded.... IF this doesnt work ... Get / buy a spare spark plug ..... pull off...

Have to say I am thinking this is the old start it up .... turn it off without the car getting hot .. and then "car wont start" issue .... as you said you got it started and then turned it off shortly afterwards ..... If you have a good spark ....... push accelerator pedal to the floor ...

The picture above is your distributor ...... It doesnt look to be lots of oil ..... dry it off with tissue and then put it back together again... dont overtighten the cap screws Then check for a spark on the spark plugs ...... and dont hold one while checking as the shock hurts ;)

They look mint ... whats the inner sill like ..... on the other side of the lip of the sill ... all the way down ..... paying attention to the rear sections .... dont stick head under without using axle stands ;)

CV Joint from Ebay including boot grease and metal ties for less than £20 delivered and they are fine..... Fitted one last year to the 1.0.... You can but a whole Micra with MOT for £277 odd ..... Just checked and it was £8.99 + post from J&R :)

Rust wise ..... on the underside of the car look for rust or rust bubbles mainly along the inner and outer sills and usually towards the rear .... also check rear inner wheel arches on the sill side as these can split .. let water in and rust the buggery out of the sills ..... catch it soon...

Before spending lots of your hard earned on the car check the sills thoroughly ...... inner and outer, also front crossmember (thats the bar that the radiator sits on under bumper) and inner rear arches near the sills for rust .... then if its all good and you plan on keeping the car for a good...
